Marie Colvin

Although specialising in the Middle East, she also covered conflicts in Chechnya, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. She won the International Women’s Media Foundation award for ‘Courage in Journalism’ for her coverage of Kosovo and Chechnya.
She was killed by shell fire while reporting in Homs, Syria along with Rémi Ochlik during the 2011–2012 Syrian uprising.
She was named the Foreign Reporter of the Year by the British Press Awards twice, in 2001 and 2010.

Rémi Ochlik
1983-2012
His first break came in 2004 when he covered the 2004 Presidential Election in haiti. He’s become best know for his work during the Arab Spring, where he had worked in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.
In 2012, he photographed scenes in Syria during the 2011–2012 Syrian uprising and was killed in Homs during heavy shelling at a makeshift centre along with Marie Colvin.
